Joys of the Journey

Joys of the Journey

No one ever wants to get the callback from the doctor's office reporting that "You have cancer."  Far too often, we hear of friends and loved ones who recently got diagnosed and sometimes, it is us ourselves.

Many of you have experienced this journey from one side or the other, I have experienced it from both sides.  Some of the tools in my survival kit were to study God's Word, remain hopeful, stay positive and I surrounded myself with people, places and things that made me happy or brought me joy. I highly recommend this approach to help you through any difficult journey.

Hearing the words "you have cancer" is frightening but there is a name above EVERY name that washes that fear away.  It's okay to feel the fear, we are human but stay away from the "what if" tunnel of despair.  Stand on God's Word.

Recently, I had the opportunity to witness a dear friend ring the bell.  It has become a common practice in oncology facilities when patients complete their prescribed course of treatment, they ring a bell.  As you can imagine, it is a day full of emotions as the patient can invite friends, loved ones and of course, their medical staff to celebrate this sentimental moment.

As my friend reflected over her 6 month journey, she thanked everyone for their support as she encouraged others who may to travel this path.  She was also reminded that although the journey is not "easy" she felt God's Grace every step of the way.  You do not have to claim all of the potential side effects and there are certainly joys along the journey.

Joys in the Journey

  1. Visits that comfort from friends and relatives, just being (in your presence)
  2. Outings with friends and relatives, ice cream dates never meant so much
  3. Seeing before your very eyes GOD WORK, "Won't He Do IT"
  4. Fully appreciating a chance at another day, taking nothing for granted
  5. Feeling GOOD again, did I say taking NOTHING for granted?

If you have some tips or words of encouragement to share, go ahead and feel free to drop them in the comments.  It takes a village throughout life's journey.

Until next time, be well and stay blessed...

First Believe God for your healing. Then stand on his word.
Don’t try to go through alone, it takes a village.
Stay positive
